Taxpayer Advocate Service

An independent organization within the IRS, TAS is here to protect your rights as a taxpayer, and help you with tax problems you can't resolve on your own.

Center for Taxpayer Rights

This nonprofit organization is dedicated to furthering taxpayer’s awareness of and access to taxpayer rights by providing education to the public and government officials.

Other Tax Clinics

If you are a low-income taxpayer who needs help in resolving a tax dispute with the IRS and cannot afford representation, you may qualify for free or low-cost assistance from a Low Income Taxpayer Clinic.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

The IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs offer free basic tax return preparation to qualified individuals.
